Laphroaig has always been one of the world’s most distinctive single malts. Now, with the launch of the Wall Collection, the iconic Islay distillery has created something that transcends whisky entirely. The first expression in this landmark series is simply called Peat – and it puts the very soul of Laphroaig back where it belongs.
Over 36 years of maturation, the natural smokiness of a Laphroaig spirit often softens and retreats behind waves of fruit and complexity. For this release, master distillers made a deliberate choice: finish the aged spirit in a heavily peated cask, calling those signature smoky notes back to the foreground. The result is a whisky that feels both ancient and alive at the same time.
One of only 200 bottles in the world
This is not merely a limited release – it is a genuinely rare artefact. Each of the 200 bottles has been individually hand painted by celebrated London illustrator Laura Carlin, using the exact same paint sourced directly from Laphroaig’s Warehouse No.1 on the shores of Islay. Every bottle is unique. Every bottle is a piece of art. Each comes raised on a display plinth, designed to be shown rather than hidden away.
Tasting notes
Nose: Fruity and inviting, with notes of passionfruit, strawberries and sultanas woven together with soft leather and a warm hint of cinnamon.
Palate: Zesty orange peel, fresh pineapple, runny honey, vanilla and custard tart lead the way before a smooth, lingering finish of signature Laphroaig peat takes hold and refuses to let go.
Finish: Long, smoky, and deeply satisfying – the classic Islay farewell.
